Milwaukee Mile 2004 An article in
National Speed Sport News by Ralph Marsden summed our day, "After another
Carter spin, Drake continued to lead, but John Heydenreich had the
fastest car on the track, as he moved to fifth after starting 24th.
He passed Fillip and East to take third and when Pierce blew his engine on lap
68, Heydenreich was second. However, his day ended with a brake failure on lap
81. With Drake comfortably up front and the laps winding down, Hines
quietly moved around Kaeding, East and Fillip. Drake took the checkered flag,
ahead of Hines, Fillip, Tyler and East." Dave Kallmann, from the Milwaukee Journal, also reported, "John Heydenreich drove from 24th to second and stalked Drake for a time but dropped out 19 laps short of the finish with a brake rotor problem", Milwaukee Journal Online. Commentary from USAClive.com: "The real excitement in the race came from two drivers who started deep in the back. John Heydenreich, driving the Racewell.com Beast was the fastest car on the track for much of the race. He found a high line through the turns early in the race and picked off car after car from his 24th starting position. By lap twenty-two he had picked up ten positions. By the time Dane Carter spun a second time on lap 52; Heydenreich was in seventh and had run down the lead pack. From that point he picked off a car every other lap or so and found himself in second and closing on Drake. His fantastic run came to a halt though on lap 81 with a broken right front brake unit." Baby Jack Daniel is our newest fan, as he is an aspiring racecar driver. Baby Jack warmed up the car for Johnny prior to the feature. He did a great job, as Johnny was able to move from his 24th starting position up to 2nd by lap 79, before a brake failure ended our day at the historical Mile.
