Since many of us racers are also pet lovers, this section of the web is
devoted to racing pets involved in racing. Let's face it, many of us have
pets named after drivers or cars, pets who give up their owners while their
owners go racing, pets who attend races, pets whose owners are drivers, etc.
You get the picture. If you have a photo or pet story of a pet who is
named after or involved in racing, please forward it to
sharon@johnnyheydenreich.com
to be included in this section. Let's keep it going!
Mika, Great Dane/American Bulldog Rotax, Sharon's American Bulldog Rotax, left and Mika, right Tyler Walker's dog, Tetra
This is Mika, Sharon's Great Dane/American Bulldog mix. Sharon got Mika when she was about 16 weeks old. Mika was named Mecca, which wasn't an appropriate name for a dog whose owner loved racing. The name was adapted to "Mika", after Mika Hakkinen, the Formula 1 driver. Mika the driver is a guy, but Mika the dog is a girl. Here Mika is sleeping on Sharon's queen size bed -- yes -- she's a big girl! Rotax' registered name is Rotax Bombardier, after the very fast, powerful Rotax engine made by Bombardier. Sharon sent a letter to the VP of Marketing of Bombardier to try to get a racing sponsorship. I told them about naming the dog after their engine, but I still got turned down. What better mug to sell ATV's? Rotax, that is!! Here's Rotax and Mika sleeping on Sharon's queen size bed. Yes, I do sleep somewhere in the middle of all this! Who needs yoga and Pilates? Rotax is 92 pounds and Mika weighs in at 155 pounds. Sharon weighs somewhere between 92 and 155!! Mika is the daughter of Bentley, named after Bentley Warren. (I confess I never told Bentley I named my dog after him.) This is a picture of Tyler Walker's dog, Tetra, in the Summer of 2003 at IRP during a Silver Crown race. Tyler spends a lot of time with cute females, and in my opinion this is the cutest! Isn't she a sweetie?
